James Wesley Joslin, age 81, of Flat Rock, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Corewell Trenton Hospital.
Born on March 14, 1944 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he was the son of Russell and Vieno Esther (Korpi) Joslin. On July 9, 1988 he married Helen Joslin in Southgate.
He was employed with NSK Corporation as a supervisor for 40 years, until retiring in 2007.
Jim was a Past Commander of the Flat Rock American Legion Post 337, Past Commander of the American Legion District 16, Downriver Veterans Honor Guard, AMVETS, 40-8, Flat Rock Masonic Lodge Hiram Findlater Lodge F. & A.M. #110. Jim served over 31 combined years in the military between active duty and reserves. His commitment to the military and veterans is a true dedication that should not go unnoticed. His personal life was centered around his family. His true enjoyment was his camp in Manistique, Michigan. He would always talk about the long driveway he traveled to get to his cabin from the road. The 4th of July was a time he couldn't miss up there. He would always travel to Kentucky to visit family during the holidays. He enjoyed traveling out west with his friends as well as taking vacation cruises with friends from the Honor Guard and their wives. He was a man that loved to eat, mainly Oreo's, Chips Ahoy and ice cream. Cookies were his reward for checking on his daughters cat, Moses, while she was away. More than anything, he has missed his best friend/grandson, Jordan.
James was preceded in death by his father, Russell Joslin, mother, Vieno Esther Joslin, grandchild, Jordan Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Joslin, children, Kimberly (Shawn) Hill, Robert (Karla) Joslin, Christopher Jason (Cinda) Hardacre, grandchildren, Sarah (Haakon) Skrodal, Alyssa (Stephen Chrivia) Hardacre, Callie Hardacre, Gracie Hardacre, Landyn Johnson, Ember Johnson, great-grandchildren, Owen Skrodal, Mabel Skrodal, one great grandchild on the way, sister, Barbara (Ron) Goelz, brother, John (Linda) Joslin, numerous nieces and nephews.
