Carolyn L. Spears

Carolyn L. Spears, age 89, of Riverview, Michigan passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025 at American House in Riverview, Michigan.

Born on May 18, 1936 in Maysville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Leslie and Susan (Hinson) Scott. She was raised by her grandparents Presley Jackson Scott and Lenora Scott. On November 29, 1963 she married Virgil Spears in Lincoln Park, MI.

She was employed with Lincoln Park Public Schools as a teacher for 41 years before retiring in 1999.

She received her Bachelor Degree from Georgetown University and her Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. She loved to travel, was an avid reader, and assisted in many church activities in her earlier years. Most of all she loved to spend money on her grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Odell Scott, mother, Susan Elizabeth Scott, grandfather, Presley Jackson Scott, grandmother, Lenora Scott, husband, Virgil Ray Spears, brother Randy.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen Spears, Scott (Rhonda) Spears, Shawn (Elizabeth) Spears, grandchildren, Randi Mae (Tom) Goodburn, Aubray Spears, Blake (Vincenza) Miars, Jordan Spears, Justin Spears, Autumn Spears, Carolyn Spears, great-grandchildren, Presley Spears, Sebastian Miars, Gemma Miars, Madison, Gene, brothers, Roger, Robert, Reed.

Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Entombment will be in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron Township, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of choice.
