James Scott "Jimmy" Kallies passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, in Morristown on August 30, 2025, at the age of 61.
Born on October 23, 1963, in Newark, NJ, Jimmy was the beloved son of James Kallies and Dolores Ulrich. He grew up in Jackson, NJ, and graduated from Jackson Memorial High School.
After high school, Jimmy began a lifelong career in the carpeting industry, proudly joining Local Union 2212. He worked with dedication and heart, spending several years with Cove and briefly with Floor Direct. His passion for his trade earned him the affectionate nickname "Jimmy Rugs." To Jimmy, his coworkers were more than colleagues-they were family-and he truly loved going to work each day.
Outside of work, Jimmy lived life to the fullest. He cherished camping trips with the guys, riding ATVs, cruising on his motorcycle or in his vintage Ford, cooking new recipes, and enjoying music. A lifelong animal lover, Jimmy found immense joy in the company of his pets. Above all, he treasured time spent with family and friends.
Jimmy had the best giggle-one that could light up a room and will never be forgotten.
He was a proud member of the Stirling Fire Co., the Stirling Elks Lodge #2392, and the Warren American Legion Post #293.
Jimmy is survived by his loving mother, Dolores (Tomasula) his sister, Pamela Bross, and her husband, Len; his extended DeFillips family; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and a multitude of dear friends he made and kept throughout the years. He was predeceased by his father, James Kallies and his brother Bobby Kallies.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jimmy's memory to the Plainfield Area Humane Society, 75 Rock Avenue, Plainfield, NJ 07063.
A memorial service will be held at Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Road, Gillette, NJ on Sunday, September 14, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Cremation was private.
