James "Jim" Laban, of Billings, MO, went home to be with his Lord, peacefully, on December 27, 2023, at 90 years old. He was born in New York, New York on August 07, 1933, to Henry and Lillian (Taborsky) and was one of three children.
He graduated from Long Island City High School then served in the US Army. While he was stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life Ursula Rimkus. She spoke no English and he spoke no German, but they knew the moment they met they would be married. In 1959, Jim and Ursula were married in Germany. They were blessed with two children, Robert, and Anneliese. Upon returning to the states, Jim started his career with American Airlines where he worked until his retirement in 1995. Jim loved boating, deep-sea fishing and mowing his lawn. Jim was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Billings and St. Bernadette's in North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents and both siblings.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ursula, son Robert (Ann) Laban, daughter Anneliese (Joseph) Reeves, grandchildren: Robert (Katelyn) Laban Jr., Sara (Derek) Hotchkiss, Nicholas (Nichelle) Reeves, and Alexandra Reeves, as well as 4 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, January 04, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Billings. Burial will take place at 2p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
