James Willice Lashley, 88 of Eutaw, passed away March 31, 2025 at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home in Demopolis. Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at Eutaw Baptist Church with Bennie Abrams and Noah Phillips officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow at Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
He is preceded in death by his parents James and Martha Lashley, sisters; Claudeen Rhodes, Martha Grantham, Faye Beams, Mary Jane Porter, brother; James C. Lashley, Jr. "Bud".
Survivors include his wife; Connie Bailey Lashley, daughters; Dawn Abrams (Bennie), Danah Graham (Jack), sister; Evelyn Gay, grandchildren; Abbie Reeves (Jason), Lashley Cunningham (Shawn), Lee Abrams (Jessica), Scott Graham (Cayla), great grandchildren; Ryker Cunningham "The Baby" and a host of nieces and nephews.
Willice was born on October 16, 1936. He was a lifelong resident of Greene County, Alabama. He was married to his life long "darling" Connie for 67 years. He was a member of Eutaw Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and children's Sunday school teacher. He spent his life farming the land with cattle and cotton. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family and his favorite roles were husband, daddy, and grandaddy.
Pallbearers are Scott Graham, Lee Abrams, Jack Nelson, Jason Reeves, Shawn Cunningham, Allen Vaughan, and Willie Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers are Ruth Dixon, Gladys Murray, John Herndon, Clara Simmons, Sarah Cotton, Foster Bell, Marilyn Cork, staff of Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home, staff at Legacy Hospice of Demopolis, Soil Conservation Supervisors, and Deacons of Eutaw Baptist Church and Amedysis of Demopolis, Alabama.
