Mr. James Michael “Mike” Lentz, Sr., 73, of Charlotte, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Mr. Lentz was born in Forsyth County, NC on July 23, 1951, to the late James Franklin Lentz and Carlene Isgett Lentz. Mike was a lover of music, sports (As hard as it is to be an NC State and Panthers fan), and seeing NC. He made sure to show us every corner of the state. His love for music is what led him to meet his life partner and best friend. They shared a ride with a friend from App St to the Winston-Salem/Greensboro area during their Christmas break freshman year. The whole ride home they talked about music and the bands they loved. Credence Clearwater Revival, Led Zepplin, The Doors, and Pink Floyd just to name a few. These bands and more are what we heard every day in the car or in the house. But most of all he loved his family. Mike always made time for his kids. You would often find him in the dugout keeping score or helping w/ batting practice at his kid’s games and practices. All while never forgetting to say and show his wife that he “Loves You Bunches”
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lentz was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki Mae Lentz and “special nephew” son, David James Lentz. Mr. Lentz is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Touchstone Lentz; daughter, Jennifer Read D’Alba (Mark) of McDonough, GA; son, James Michael “Mike” Lentz, Jr. (Kirsten) of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Zerica D’Alba and Parker Lentz; and numerous other loving relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Dr. Steve Ayers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Epilepsy Institute of NC, 128 Peachtree Ln. Suite C, Advance, NC 27006.
