It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic and unexpected passing of James Jonathan Leonardo on January 11, 2025 at the age of 35. James was born at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Bloomfield, CT on June 4, 1989. He moved to Enfield, CT at a young age and spent most of his life there.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Madison May Leonardo and his parents, Jim and Wendy Leonardo. James is also survived by his sisters: Amanda Leonardo (Craig White), Christina and her husband Thomas Watson and Danielle Leonardo. Also cherished nieces and nephews: California Elizabeth, Traeton James, Leo James, and Ivy Elizabeth.
James loved sports. At an early age he participated in baseball, wrestling and soccer. In high school he played basketball and was a 4-year starter in football. He was also a very talented BMX rider. James, was one try out away from making the USA junior national rugby team before knee injuries ended his career. He took up powerlifting later in life - he was extremely dedicated and would lift for hours almost every day and currently ranked in the top 25 in the world of his class. Another passion of his was riding his Harley Davidson with his daughter or friends.
James was a hardworking electrician who took immense pride in his profession. He was not just skilled with his hands but also a person who found fulfillment in helping others and improving the world around him through his craft. His commitment to his work was exceeded only by his devotion to his family and friends.
James' unexpected passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kind heart, vibrant energy, and the love he shared with his family and friends. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A memorial service to celebrate James' life will be held on Sunday January 19th from 12-4 at Browne's Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Road in Enfield CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Madison May Leonardo Scholarship Fund, C/O Jim Leonardo 16 Rosanne St. Enfield CT 06082 or Brian Dagle Foundation: Brianshealinghearts.org.
