James (Jim) Raymond Marcus joined the great cloud of witnesses to the life of faith on August 6, 2025, as he finished his race here on earth. He passed away in Cherokee County, Georgia, his home since 2002. He was born on October 17, 1950, in Savannah, Georgia, to James Raymond and Vera Eloise Marcus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia (John) Woodcock.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Marcus; children, Naomi (Doug) Moore, Sarah (Daniel) Zidaru, Christoper (Kimberly) Marcus; sister Carol McCathren; mother-in-law, Mary Bowen; grandchildren, Emma Moore, Clare Moore, Alex Zidaru, Audrey Marcus, Ana Zidaru, Sarabeth Marcus, Ava Zidaru, and Gus Moore. He is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.

Jim lived all over the world during his father's time of service with the U.S. Air Force, but Savannah was always his home base. He attended college at the University of Georgia and became an avid Bulldog fan. After his time at UGA, he journeyed out to California, where he was led to the Lord by a dear minister of the gospel, which changed the course of his life forever. Later, he moved to Asheville, NC, met his wife, Mary, and started a family. Jim loved to explore new places, travel, loved learning about new things and ideas, and was always up for an adventure. Strangers turned into friends quickly through his gift of conversation and the genuine interest that he took in people. He had a "green thumb" and loved plants and working in his garden. He also loved sharing his plants with others. He loved reading all kinds of books and had shelves full. He spent much of his time hiking and biking, and not only working out but training others. As an antique dealer, he often saw treasure in the story behind a thing. And that translated to people, too. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 30, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Christ Fellowship Church, 139 Hightower Pkwy, Dawsonville, Ga 30534.

I was heartbroken to hear of Jim´s passing. I will forever cherish my memories of our time together- he was a founding member of the Old Geezers Club at my ice cream store. Jim had a heart of gold. Rest in peace.

We just heard about Jim´s passing and want to extend our condolences to Chris and Mary along with the rest of the family. We always loved Jim´s sense of humor and his love of the Lord! We know that he is with Jesus now and that the struggle is over. We will keep the Marcus family in our prayers. Tom and Judy Mitchell
