Muncie - Philip Charles Marcus, 68, passed away on August 16, 2025 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

He was born on August 5, 1957 in Muncie, Indiana to Winfred and Mary Kathryne (Henkle) Marcus. Phil graduated from Cowan High School in 1975 and spent his whole life in the Cowan area. He married Victoria Starr on October 10, 1980 and gained four brothers-in-law: Scott, Steve (Marie), Jeff (Kibra), Tony, and sister-in-law Shelley (Scott Harvey). Phil's strong work ethic, which began as a young boy helping his Uncle Ross on the farm, carried over to his nearly 40 year employment at Marsh Supermarkets, where he was a proud member of Teamsters Local 135. At the end of his career, he spent five years at Boar's Head in New Castle before retiring in 2022. Phil enjoyed traveling, landscaping, showing classic cars as a member of the Central Indiana Old Car Club, and watching his grandkids in their numerous sports.

Phil dedicated his life to his family. He is survived by his wife, Vicki, and three daughters: Shawn Churchill (Caleb) of Muncie; Janna Turner (Michael) of Noblesville; and Kylie Marcus of Noblesville. He was a proud PaPa of five grandchildren: Ella and Caroline Churchill and Brooklyn, Brady, and Bryant Turner. In addition, he is survived by his beloved sisters Julie Johnson (Dale Conrad) of Anderson and Nancy Pettiette (Doug Dillon) of Houston, Texas. He will be missed by his cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and special aunts Norma Carmichael (Bob) and Dorothy Webb.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Wince and Mary K. Marcus, in-laws Betty and Harold Starr, brother-in-law Kent Johnson, and nephew Tommy Pettiette.

Phil's everyday actions of kindness, generosity, love, patience, and compassion made him so easy to love. His gentle and positive spirit will live through the legacy of his family.

Friends and family may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22 in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Andrew Thornton presiding. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Little Red Door Cancer Agency, 413 S. Tillotson Ave Suite 3, Muncie, IN 47304.
