James Dale "Fish" Martin, Jr. passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 13, 2024. Born July 14, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late James Dale Martin, Sr. and Evelyn Irene Binkley Martin. Jim was a man of many passions and brought joy to those around him with his wonderful sense of humor and hardworking nature.
One of Jim's favorite pastimes was being an outdoorsman. He found peace and happiness in activities like fishing, hunting whitetail deer, and going on adventurous rides. A loyal fan of West Virginia University athletics, he always cheered passionately for the Mountaineers.
Above all else, Jim cherished his family more than anything. He loved being a husband, father and grandfather.  He provided his girls with an amazing sense of security and was truly their hero. His love and dedication knew no bounds.  His family will always remember his unique tradition of having the worst 'Dirty Santa' gifts at Christmastime. His unpredictable choices added a special element of fun to the holiday gatherings and left everyone guessing what he would bring next.
Jim will be deeply missed by his surviving family and friends, including his beloved wife of 35 years, Terri Martin; daughters Ashley Martin and Heather (Brandon "Romeo") Martin Feenstra, granddaughter Rian Higgs, grandson Tyler Higgs, and another grandbaby on the way; and his faithful companion, Coal.
Services to honor and celebrate the life of James Dale Martin, Jr. will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home and Cremation Services in White House, Tennessee. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 18 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, March 19 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Life ceremony officiated by Tim Sharp will follow on March 19 at 1:00 PM.  Burial will take place in Hillcrest Municipal Cemetery in White House.  Pallbearers will be Tyler Higgs, Brandon "Romeo" Feenstra, Randy Hamrick, Donnie Brundige, Steve Watts, and Michael Belcher.
Jim's legacy of love, laughter, and hard work will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
