James Joseph McCann

James Joseph McCann, age 89 of Webster went home to heaven unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. James was an incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend who was always willing to help anyone. He was born on April 3, 1936 in Schenectady, NY and was raised in Rochester. He graduated from his beloved Aquinas Institute. James was proud of his enrollment in the Army serving our country during the Korean War. He would later recieve his degree in engineering from RIT. James was a man of business and enjoyed owning Leisure Time Marine for over 30 years during which he was President of Western NY Boating Association. His greatest passion was his family.

James is predeceased by his parents, William and Helen, son, Kevin and granddaughter, Samantha. He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 70 years, Marilyn (Stahlberger) McCann; his children, Donna (Robert) Johnson-Mead, Gregory McCann and Patricia (John) Cavanaugh; grandchildren, Matthew, Marc (Jenny), Danielle, Jessica, William, Nicole and Michael; 4 great-granddaughters; sisters, Patricia (Paul) Peterson and Jane O'Brien; nephews, Norman and Douglas; nieces, Karen and Janine.

Family and friends are welcome Tuesday, December 30th from 4-7pm at the Profetta Funeral Chapel 1650 Empire Blvd. where a Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday at 11am. Interment will follow at White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aquinas Institute 1127 Dewey Ave. Rochester, NY 14613.
