James P McCloskey

James P McCloskey, age 81 of Ship Bottom passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 Surrounded by his family. James was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and resided over the years in California, New York and New Jersey. James graduated from St. John's University. Starting his carrier in accounting as a CPA he graduated top of his training class from Pricewaterhouse moving on to become controller of the restaurant division of WR Grace before retiring in 1999 as chief financial officer of Pinkerton Inc. He was a former communicant at the Parish of St. Mary in Colts Neck, NJ and former communicant of St. Bernardine of Siena Catholic Church in Woodland Hills, CA and St. Thomas More Church, Brighton, NY. James was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Brant Beach. James had a pro life legacy as he enjoyed fundraising, donating and advocating for the Pregnancy Counseling Center in California. He also enjoyed running marathons (including La and NY), Traveling, Golfing and had a great faith in God.
James is predeceased by his wife Maureen 2022, his son James "jay" in 2013 and his siblings; Nancy, Maureen, Francis and George. He is survived by his children; Joan (Shawn), Kevin (Sara), Kathleen (Robert), William (Kelly), Maryellen (John), Theresa (Shaun); 12 grandchildren Mackenzie, Kaitlyn, RJ, Eric, Jack, Paige, Jamie, Kyle, John, Katie, Tarin, Lincoln and 3 great-grandchildren Grady, Joelle and Nolan, his sister-in-law Finoula McCloskey, James is also survived by many loving family and friends.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 1119 Long Beach Blvd, (corner of 12th St. & Blvd.), Ship Bottom, NJ 08008. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 11am at St. Mary's of the Pines Church, 100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Beachview Ave., Manahawkin.
