It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James C. McCracken, who departed this life on July 8, 2025, in Bibb County, Georgia, at the age of 82. Born in Washington County, Virginia, James was a loving father, devoted grandfather, and a cherished member of the community.
James McCracken was born on March 29, 1943 to the late Elsie McCracken, and Roy McCracken. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Celeste Marie Stevens. He leaves behind his son, Donnie Shane Aplin, and his daughter-in-law, Tiffany Paige Cloud. James also shared a special bond with his grandchildren: Cheyann Loretta Stevens, Chelby McKenzie Stevens, Peyton Shane Aplin, Calista Bailey Stevens, and Owen Grant Aplin, who were the center of his universe.
Throughout his life, James embraced a variety of roles, from his work in manufacturing to his ventures as an entrepreneur. His dedication to craftsmanship was matched only by his passion for family. James took great joy in the company of his grandchildren, with whom he spent countless hours, nurturing their interests and encouraging their aspirations.
An avid NASCAR enthusiast, he found great pleasure in following the races, often sharing that excitement with loved ones. James also took pride in his yard work, finding peace and satisfaction in cultivating his surroundings. In honor of his wishes, a private burial will take place at Parkway Memorial Gardens. As we remember James, we celebrate the love he shared and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to local charities supporting children and families, reflecting the love James held for his own family.
