James McDermott III Obituary
Born on August 22, 1957, in Stoneham, to James Joseph McDermott Jr. and Catherine Margaret (Martel) McDermott, his birth was closely followed by three siblings, Thomas McDermott, Corinne Shea and Richard McDermott.
He attended Stoneham High School, marrying Gail Williams who gave birth to their daughter, Kelly L. McDermott in May of 1975. He spent many happy years in California, remarrying Lori Mohla who gave birth to their son James Joseph McDermott IV in February of 1986.
He is survived by his mother, his siblings and their spouses, his children, two grandchildren, Maya and Miguel Principe and many loving nephews, great aunts, uncles and cousins. His third granddaughter Athena Ivy will be born to his son this July.
His passions were riding a Harley, being in California and work. He was a talented mechanic eventually becoming Watch Engineer on large dredge boats. He spent his time off on long bike rides across mountain ranges and overlooking oceans. He loved and had great respect for his parents, visiting often.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday April 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stoneham to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

April 20, 2024

Jimmy was my first cousin, twice removed. I´ve known him since he was a little boy living diagonally across the street from me on Park Street in Stoneham, MA. His Dad and my Dad were first cousins, and always thought very highly of one another. His Dad was one of my inspirations for joining the Marine Corps in 1970, as he had been a Marine Sgt following the Korean War. Jimmy and his family always meant a lot to my family. The last time I saw Jimmy was 2 years ago this month when we met in Stoneham and went to visit his mother Cathy in a nursing home. The two of us always got along very well, and he was always very nice and respectful to me, his older cousin. I was very saddened to learn of Jimmy´s passing this past Sunday. May my younger cousin now rest in eternal peace, and God Bless his children, his Mom, his grandchildren and his siblings. Murrie Hubbard, North Kingstown, RI
