James P McDermott Jr.

James P McDermott Jr 85 of Manchester died Friday October 24, 2025, at home with his family. Born in Union City, he resided in the home he built for his family in Brick for 35 years before moving to the Renaissance section of Manchester in 2002. He worked in sales for Motorola Communications for 30 years before retiring in 1998. He loved playing golf and even obtained a hole in 1 on the Renaissance Country Golf Club course. He enjoyed billiards, saltwater fishing, and doing the crypto quotes & crosswords daily in the Asbury Park Press. He was a great bowler with a few perfect 300 scores and liked to travel. He is predeceased by his wife Isabelle in 2014. Surviving are his children, James P McDermott III, DO, & his wife Nicole, Dawn McDermott and Kimberly Voorhees & her husband Michael, siblings, Thomas & Elizabeth McDermott, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation is Tuesday 10-12 PM with an 11:30 AM service at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Entombment to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
