Sheryl Lynn McDermott, age 71, passed away on November 18, 2025, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Sheryl had a deep love for her family and a lifelong passion for animals. She was a generous supporter of animal shelters and rescue organizations, and she found joy in feeding birds and caring for her pets. She enjoyed watching The Young and the Restless, attending concerts, and especially loved listening to The Mavericks.
She was born on December 26, 1953, in Christopher, Illinois, to Robert Reed and Evadene (Summers) Reed. Sheryl was married to Jack McDermott, who preceded her in death in 2006. Together, they raised two sons, Kyle and Ryan.
Sheryl is survived by her sons, Kyle McDermott and Ryan McDermott; Ryan’s fiancée, Marcella Silvey, and her daughter, Adilee; her sister, Joetta Devine; her nephews, Gage and Jordan Devine; and her significant other, Tom Harrison. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Lila, and five cherished cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; and her brothers, Bobby and Matthew Reed.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. No services are planned for Sheryl McDermott at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) or to any local animal rescue of the donor’s choice.
