James Allen McDonough, age 86, of White Lake, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on March 20, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, James was the beloved son of Norman and Gertrude McDonough. He was raised in Detroit, where he graduated from (Visitation High School) in (1957). He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Detroit. While he was working on his career, James also spent time serving his country in the army reserves.
At just 19 years old, James began what would become a long and dedicated career at Chrysler Corporation. He worked there for over four decades, retiring at age 62 as a respected buyer. Known for his work ethic and easygoing nature, James was well-liked by colleagues and left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with him.
James was a devoted and loving father to his cherished daughters, Jodi and Jill. He was their biggest supporter, always encouraging their endeavors with unwavering pride and affection.
A man who truly loved life, James found joy in the simple pleasures. He treasured his home on the lake, where he spent countless hours jet skiing and enjoying the water. He was also an avid skier, a passionate reader, and a connoisseur of fine dining and wine. Always the life of the party, James embraced every opportunity to celebrate with friends and family. His happy-go-lucky spirit, love for adventure, and zest for life were infectious.
James will be remembered for his resilience, his joyful heart, and the warmth he brought to every room. He was a fighter, a friend, and a father whose memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Beloved father of Jodi (Ray) McDonough-Mercer; and dear life long friend and prior spouse of Judy McDonough. James is also survived by many loving family and friends
James is preceded in passing by his loving daughter, Jill McDonough; his sister, Sharon Dunn; and parents, Norman and Gertrude McDonough.
