James Nathaniel McKissack, affectionately known as Nate, was born on October 20, 1977 to Kimberly Sue McKissack and James William Knowles in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up loving his siblings, Roger, Joshua, John and Chyna.
Nate was a man of many different passions. He loved cooking, music, UFC Fights, watching movies, swimming and kayaking. He also enjoyed the Christmas season and was always filled with joy seeing the lights and decorations that the season would bring. Lights were an important part of his being. In a world that could sometimes be so dark, his world was always filled with lights. He put them everywhere. That's one of the many things that made him so special.
Nate married Jennifer Gay on May 22, 2002. Their union was blessed with 3 beautiful children. Nate adored his siblings. He made sure that he contacted many of them daily. He always encouraged them to talk to one another. As a peacemaker, his main objective was to bring them together. He spent countless hours scheduling activities for them to enjoy. His heart was always happy whenever they were together. For the last year of his life, Nate lived under his sister Chyna's care due to his condition. Though he has gone to be with God, he will be at peace believing that his siblings are reconnected, creating new memories and embracing happy times. Nate will be in Heaven watching over his grandchild that he didn't get a chance to meet.
Our beloved Nate departed this life peacefully in the home of his sister Chyna on April 6, 2025. Though he is no longer here on earth with us, there is joy in knowing that when he reached Heaven's Gates, he was greeted by this son Jaimon McKissack as well as his loving parents and other family. His memory will forever be cherished by his children, Devin and Gavin McKissack and Rebecca Silcox. Loving siblings, Chyna, John, and Joshua Knowles and Roger McKissack. Also cherishing his memory will be a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 12:00 pm.
