James H. Merrill, passed away on January 27, 2026, at the age of 78.
Jim was born on May 31, 1947, in Ashtabula a son of the late Harold and Alda Johns Merrill.
Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 18, 1968, and honorably served during the Vietnam War, completing two tours of duty.
After his military service, Jim became a skilled truck driver and diesel mechanic with R&J Trucking. Above all, Jim cherished his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Teets Merrill, whom he married August 23, 1969; his children, Angela (Kenny) Leathers and Dustin (Jennifer) Merrill; and five grandchildren, Paul Leathers, Hope Burbick, Philip Burbick, Isaac Burbick, and Ayden Merrill.
Jim was also preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Frantz and half sister, Carol.
Private family services were held.
Professional arrangements were handled by HIggins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Salem Chapel.
