Obituary of James C. Mignogna

James "Big Jim" Mignogna, 68, of Pennsauken NJ, began the next chapter of his journey August 11, 2025.

Jim was born in Camden, NJ to Carmen and Esther Mignogna (nee Flaherty) on August 5, 1957 and the world was never the same. Jim was a proud graduate of Pennsauken High School class of 1975. A star member of the football team, he continued his academic and athletic pursuits at the University of Louisville. He started his career in hospitality after college in the golden age of the Latin Casino where he once made Frank Sinatra laugh. He soon became a recognized and award-winning small business owner.

He found joy in the rhythm of music and the roar of a concert crowd. He loved seeing the world with his wife and closest friends, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies-and, most of all, sharing in whatever adventures his children pursued, celebrating their milestones as his own.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 44 years, Sharon (née Schwarz); his daughter Jamie (Timothy), and son Jason (Cassandra); and the lights of his life-his grandchildren, Zachary and Lena.

He is also survived by his sisters Nancy and Joyce Frazier; sister-in-law Floss (née Bruder); mother-in-law Christine Schwarz; and brothers-in-law Kenneth (Andrea), Christian, Bruce (Diane), and Keith (Pamela) Schwarz.

He leaves behind 16 nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews, his Camden boys, and countless lifelong friends.

He was predeceased by his brothers Michael and Carmen; brother-in-law Bobby Frazier; sisters-in-law Regina Schwarz (née Baxter); nephew Kenneth Schwarz; and nephew William Schwarz.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Maple Shade, New Jersey. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Big Jim's honor to the Gift of Life Donor Program at www.donor1.org

His legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love will live on in all who knew him.

God himself led me to the office of JRM were I met "the Jims". I called myself a Christian at the time but I didn't talk about it much with anyone. Jimmy was one of the people who shared a lot of scripture with me. He took me to his church and Wednesday night Bible study. I believe Jimmy had a lot to do with the relationship I now have with Christ. Jimmy was present at my baptism and my wedding to my wife Vicki who was also let by God to JRM. Jimmy was the funniest guy I ever met. Sometimes I laughed all the way home from the office. Condolences to Sharon, Jason, Jamie, Joyce, and Nancy and everyone else in his family. With Love, Rich and Vicki.
