James Michael (MIKE) Minor 84, died in Lexington, Kentucky on August 3, 2025 – leaving our earthly planet. He was most certainly welcomed by a great greeting party in his new heavenly realm. Mike was born on July 27, 1941 to Billy and Ann (Denny) Minor as their first born of seven children. He was a loving Dad to his daughter, Jeanann Minor and to his son, Phillip Michael Minor, grandfather to Luke Parker Minor and Liam Preston Minor and beloved Father-in-law to Kimberly Jane Minor.
He is survived by his brothers: Philip, Joe, and Tom Minor of Lexington, Kentucky, as well as his sister Annell Minor Mook of Lakewood, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Frank and Johnny.
As a young man, Mike helped to manage his family's horse and tobacco farm. He was a teacher to his younger siblings about how to saddle a horse, how to put a worm on a fishing hook, how to drive a car, and many of life's lessons. Mike worked with the public in several jobs during his lifetime, and he loved interacting with people. Nearly everyone who met him, always felt better after engaging with him. He had a deep passion for many of life's offerings. Among them were the love of his children and grandchildren, fishing, smoking a great cigar, Thoroughbred horse racing, a good dog by his side, music, UK sports, a conversation sprinkled with laughter about the old times.
Mike was a good man whose superpower was being pure of heart. As Matthew relayed in 5:8 in the Sermon on the Mount, "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God." Mike is now with God, and we ask that he guide and bless us as we grieve the loss of his beautiful physical presence.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, denotations can be made to the ASPCA.
Care Cremation and Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with final care.
