James L. Mitchell, 81, of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, passed away Saturday morning, May 17, 2025, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, after a tragic motor vehicle accident which occurred on April 28, 2025. Jim was born in Lyndon, Vermont, on May 10, 1944, the son of Leonard and Dorothy (Davis) Mitchell.
He was a long time employee of Rossi Lumber in Connecticut. He also served as a Volunteer Fireman in Cromwell, Connecticut. He also worked for NSA in Vermont for many years. Growing up in Vermont, he was an avid hunter, enjoyed snowmobiling and riding his ATV.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Pelletier of Connecticut, a grandson, David Pelletier, a granddaughter, Ashley Pelletier and her husband Bryan Pelletier. He is survived by four great grandchildren, Callie, Bryan Jr., Hayden and Nathan Pelletier. Jim is also survived by two sisters, Wanita Bragdon and Joyce Bickford, and many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as friends.
He was predeceased by five sisters, Betty, Dotty, Ethel, Wilma and Daisy and his brother, Dale Mitchell.
Services will be private.
