James Curtis Mixon, Sr. 95, of Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away at his home on Monday, September 29, 2025. He was born in Dupont, Georgia on September 14, 1930, to the late Jesse Enoch Mixon and Hazel Pearl Wilson Mixon. Mr. Mixon was a veteran of the United States Air Force, former deacon at Block House Baptist Church, and member of Victory Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, Mr. Mixon is predeceased by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Frances Elaine Nemeth Mixon and 10 siblings.
He is survived by his son: Curtis (Kim) Mixon of Lake City, Fl; his daughter: Jewel Mixon of Fernandina Beach, FL; grandchildren: Ashley (Dylan) Dohrn of Lake City, Lauren Mixon of Gainesville, Thomas (Kristin) Stolte of White Rock, NM, Derek Stolte of Fernandina Beach, Nathan Stolte of Yulee and Christian Mixon of Fernandina Beach; and great-grandchild: Bennett Dohrn of Lake City; two sisters: Syble Hutson of Pearson, GA and Christine (Donald) Barlow of St. Mary’s; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Victory Baptist Church with Bro. Tim King and Bro. Eddie Story officiating. Burial will follow at Homeland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Derek Stolte, Nathan Stolte, Larry Edward Benton, Larry Wayne Wyatt, Ralph Hickox, and Randall Barlow.
