James Joseph Moerman, of Newtown Square, PA, a devoted family man and respected professional, passed away on March 22, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Theodore F. and Catherine E. (née Bannar) Moerman.
Jim lived a life committed to both his family and his career, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. For over 40 years, Jim served as a Fire Field Underwriter for State Farm Insurance, where he was known not only for his expertise but also for his dedication to helping others.
Jim was a proud veteran who served his country honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean War. His commitment to service extended beyond his military duties, reflecting his profound sense of responsibility towards his community and family.
A very generous man, Jim was first and foremost a dedicated father. His love for his children was evident in everything he did, demonstrating an unwavering support that will be cherished by them forever. He instilled values of kindness, perseverance, and integrity in his family, serving as a guiding light throughout their lives.
Jim was the beloved husband of Dorothy (née Divis) Moerman; the loving father of Michele Moerman, James Moerman, Jr. (Judy), and Francine Greiner (Tim). He was the caring grandfather of Catherine Byrne (Joshua), Veronica Onimus (David), James Moerman (Nicole), Joseph Moerman, Thomas Greiner, Teresa Greiner, Christopher Greiner (Katerina), Theodore Greiner, Mary Greiner, and Peter Greiner. He was the kindhearted great-grandfather of Madeline Byrne, Emma Byrne, Griffin Moerman, Molly Onimus, and Dara Onimus. He is also survived by his brother, John Moerman (Mary), and his many his nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his brother, Ted Moerman (the late Mercedes) and his sister, Sr. M. Bernadette of Lourdes, IHM.
Jim’s life will be honored with Services on Friday, March 28, 2025, beginning with his Viewing from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by his Funeral Mass, at 10:30 AM. Interment thereafter at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jim would be appreciated to Divine Providence Village, 686 Old Marple Road, Springfield, PA 19064.
