North Lima - On November 16, 2025, James E. Mollenkopf passed away peacefully at his home in North Lima, a son of the late Edwin C. and Ada Howe Mollenkopf.
James was born April 6, 1948, in Salem Ohio. He is survived by his sons Tyler (Shannon) Mollenkopf of Hubbard and Michael (Patricia) Mollenkopf of Columbiana along with his grandchildren Alexandria, Madison, Allison, Isabella, Bridget, Malia, and Sarah. He is also survived by his sisters Kathy Stevens of North Lima, Rebecca Simon, and Cynthia (Larry) Lemaster both of Columbiana. He was preceded in death by his brother George Mollenkopf and sisters Betty Ross and Bonnie D’Amato. Also, his brother in laws Thomas Simon and Richard Stevens.
James was a Sergeant in the Army and served in the Vietnam war from 1968-1969. He was a commander of an M113 Trax for the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. After Vietnam he was a railroad engineer for Conrail and Norfolk Southern for 36 years before retiring in 2009.
Throughout his life he enjoyed being a runner, taking family camping trips, going boating and fishing with his sons, and coaching their little league baseball teams. He loved animals and had many pets he loved and cared for over the years. He was an Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers football fan and was a 1966 graduate of Crestview High School. He enjoyed attending every Crestview football game that he could.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 7:00 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Greg Aker officiating.
Burial will take place at Columbiana Cemetery, Columbiana.
Memorial donations may be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 West South Range Road Canfield 44406.
