James Mollet Obituary

James Ronald Mollet passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on May 8, 1941, in Eugene, OR, to Alma Leona Bentz and Edward William Mollet, Jim grew up in Eugene and graduated from South Eugene High School in 1959. After graduation, he worked alongside his father at Lane Plywood Mill for over 20 years. He later began a career in security for locations such as Hewlett-Packard in Corvallis. Jim married Janet Kaye Asay, and together they had four children: Tracey Thomson, Wendy (Darrell Wamhoff), David Mollet, and Christian Mollet (deceased). Though their marriage ended in divorce, Jim remained a devoted father. After retiring, he moved to Utah to be closer to his daughter Wendy and family, spending his final years as a resident of Fairfield Village. Jim was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and remained an active member throughout his life. His faith was an important part of who he was, providing him with strength, guidance, and a deep sense of community. Jim is survived by his children, Tracey Thomson, Wendy (Darrell Wamhoff), and David Mollet; his sister, Shirley (Douglas Miner); his niece, Sara (Brian Coffman); his nephew, Justin Miner (Laura); as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Christian Mollet. Jim had a lifelong passion for cars-he could tell you all the latest features of a new model as soon as it hit the market. He was also a dedicated sports fan, whether it was football, basketball, or his favorite, NASCAR racing. He loved following the races, keeping up with the drivers, and watching every thrilling lap. Jim was particularly involved in donating to many charities, including the Eugene Mission, St. Jude's, St. Joseph's Indian School, and many others. His generosity and desire to help those in need were a defining part of his character. Jim will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication to his family, and the love he had for those around him. He took pride in his work, enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, and carried a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. A memorial service to honor Jim's life will be held on Thursday, April 10th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Lane Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate his memory. In recognition of Jim's lifelong charitable giving, the family asks that you "Pay It Forward" by performing an act of kindness or donating to a cause close to your heart in his honor. Jim's legacy lives on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
