James Stephen "Steve" Moore, 65, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on May 25, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio to David Clinton Moore and Ludie Mae Pettit Moore. He was a member of Thorn Church of God.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 2:00 at Southern Funeral Home in Houston. Brother Anthony Dean will be officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 at the funeral home.
Steve graduated from Bel Air High School in Bel Air, Maryland. He moved to Houston, MS after high school and lived there for most of his life. He worked for 20 years for Southland Construction of Tupelo as a foreman until his health failed. He enjoyed building things such as tables and was a talented woodworker. He also enjoyed writing poetry, collecting antiques and swords. Steve loved people and never met a stranger. He genuinely loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him but leaves behind many cherished memories.
He is survived by daughters, Cheyenne McDonald (Joseph) of Meridian, Crystal Lacey of Houston, and Amber King (John) of Lead Hill, Arkansas; his son, Jimmy Moore (Stacy) of Aberdeen; his brother, David Moore of Houston; his sisters, Helen Arrants (Ernie) of Elkton, Maryland and Linda Lander (Kent) of Houston; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ludie Mae Moore; and his sister, Ruth Ann Moore.
