James L. Mott, 79, of Mancelona, passed away on January 13, 2023, at his home.
Jim was born on July 23, 1943, in Rochester, MI, the son of Lloyd and Lucille (Holdried) Mott.
The most important part of his life was his family, his country and his dogs.
He was a patriotic man who served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a HAMM Radio operator, enjoyed fishing and could often be found out in the sunshine riding in his golf cart and spending time with his family. Another one of his favorite pastimes was playing euchre with his friends at the senior center.
On June 22, 1963, in LaPeer, MI, he married Lila J. Putman who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, James Mott Jr., of Mancelona, Robin (Lance) Nichols of Mancelona, Lisa (Prakash) Gurung of Kalkaska, Heather (Dave) Atchison of Kalkaska, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Larry Mott, a brother Donald Melvin Mott and his parents.
Funeral services with military honors will take place on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona. Pastor Mark McCool will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Church on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona American Legion, PO Box 646, Mancelona, MI 49659.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
