James Franklin Nay Jr., (Jim), 76, of Newfields, New Hampshire, passed away
peacefully on July 28, 2025. Born in Warren, Ohio, on March 25, 1949, James lived a
vibrant life filled with passion, friendship, and community.
James was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, known for his warm spirit and
ability to connect with others. Through his professional career and personal pursuits, he
cultivated countless friendships that enriched his life and those around him. His
infectious enthusiasm and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he
met.
A true sports enthusiast, James known as 'Boston Jimmy' by some, found joy in
baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and thoroughbred horseracing. Whether cheering
from the stands or discussing the latest game with friends, his love for sports was a
cornerstone of his life. Equally passionate about the game of Bridge, James founded
several Bridge clubs in the Seacoast area, fostering camaraderie and intellectual
challenge among players of all levels. His dedication to the game created lasting bonds
and vibrant communities that will carry on his legacy.
James is survived by his sister, Candace Portilla of Stratham, NH and her husband
Robert, his nephew Jason Ward of Newfields, NH, his great niece Amelia Ward, great
nephew Bennett Ward and the cherished friends and the many lives he touched through
his generosity and zest for life. He was preceded in death by his parents, James
Franklin Nay Sr. and Catherine Nadine Nay.
A memorial and celebration of James' life will be held August 8, 4:00 PM at the Brewitt
