James E. Parker Jr. (Jim), age 82, of
Clarion, PA, passed away on May 30, 2025.
Born and raised in Aliquippa, PA, Jim was a proud member of the Aliquippa High School Class of 1960. He continued his education at the College of Steubenville, graduating in 1964. Following the passing of his father, James E. Parker Sr., in 1965, Jim chose to follow in his father's footsteps by joining the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. His father had served with the Pennsylvania State Highway Patrol before resigning upon marrying Dorothy Showaker.
Jim's first assignment was with Troop C at the Strattanville Barracks, now located in Clarion. In 1983, he became a member of the Pennsylvania State Police Scuba Team, participating in numerous rescue and recovery operations. He was honored with a commendation for courageous conduct during the apprehension of a dangerous subject. Jim retired with distinction from the State Police in 1992.
Photography was a lifelong passion for Jim, beginning in his youth and evolving into a successful career. He co-founded MJ Parker Photography with his former wife Melanie Parker and later operated the Custom Frame & Print Gallery. His photography earned him many accolades, and his love of travel-often by motorcycle or motorhome-took him across the U.S. and Canada in pursuit of the perfect shot.
In 1991, Jim married Kristine Weeter Milford. Together, they nurtured their family's passion for craftsmanship. Kristine's son, Brian Milford, became a student of renowned knife maker R.W. Wilson. Jim himself became an accomplished custom knife maker, winning numerous awards and exhibiting his work at fine art, gun, and knife shows across the country. He often blended his artistic talents, capturing stunning photographs while traveling to these events-whether photographing polar bears in Churchill, Manitoba, whales in Newfoundland, or alligators in Florida.
Jim is survived by his former wife, Melanie Parker, and their children: Megan Parker Kerr and her children, Madison and Jimmy Kerr, along with Megan's partner Brady Ion and his children, Lucas and Taylor; Michael Parker and his wife Heidi of Clarion; and Justin Mateer and his wife Analice of Enon Valley, PA. He is also survived by Kris's sons: Brian Milford and his wife Deanna and their children, Henry and Sarah; and Ray Milford and his wife Karena and their children, Virtue, Killian, and Ceredwin (Cerie), all of Knox, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to one of the following organizations: Clarion Forest VNA Hospice, 271 Perkins Road,
