James Mathis 'Snookie' Patterson, age 74, of Russellville, formerly of Danville, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Born on April 16, 1951, in Danville, Arkansas, he was the son of the late James 'Jimmy' and Ruth Mathis Patterson. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Snookie was also a dedicated member of the 16th Street Church of Christ.

He graduated from Danville High School in 1969 and served his community for many years as a police officer and in the water department for the city of Danville. Snookie was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

Snookie is survived by his wife, Beverly Patterson of Russellville; his children, Clay Patterson of El Cerrito, California, and Haley Haney (Matt) of Russellville; his brother, David Patterson of Salem, Missouri; his sisters, Jan Chenowith of Russellville and Patsy Richards of Santee, California; his brother-in-law, Johnny Cogburn of Fayetteville; and his grandchildren, Brayden Haney, Piper Carter, Bradley Haney, Lain Dollar, and Houston Haney, all of Russellville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Danny Patterson; his sister, Marilyn Cogburn; his brother-in-law, Al Chenowith; and his sister-in-law, Sherry Patterson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Danville, with Bro. Mike Pittman officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private in Havana Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matt Haney, Jacob Lofland, Grant Cathey, Shawn Cathey, Brent Chenowith, and Matt Knight. Honorary pallbearers include Steve Pfeifer, Don Noblett, Kenny Jackson, Mike Kiser, Rusty Tharp, Larry Wayne James, and Forrest Moudy.
