James A. "Jim" Payette, age 85, lifelong resident of Two Rivers, died Sunday morning, May 18, 2025 at Frontida of Manitowoc.
Jim was born in Two Rivers on October 13, 1939 to Antoine and Adeline (Palzer) Payette. He attended St. Luke's Catholic School and graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1957. He then furthered his education at MSOE in Milwaukee, earning an associate degree in 1959. Jim was united in marriage to Caroline M. Hoyer at St. Luke's Catholic Church in 1961. The couple was blessed with five sons.
Jim was employed with Hamilton Industries in Two Rivers from 1959 to 1978, the couple then owned & operated Payette's Uptown Bar from 1978 to 1987. Jim then retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2001.
Jim remained very active and enjoyed many hobbies throughout his lifetime. He was a longtime member and past-president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles; shot Archery Leagues for many years; loved hunting, fishing, playing dartball, and enjoyed playing cards - especially sheepshead and cribbage.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline Payette; four sons & daughters-in-law, Dean and Linda Payette, David and Shelley Payette, Doug and Karen Payette, Dan and Lynette Payette, all of Two Rivers; one daughter-in-law, Lori Payette of Cedarburg; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine and Adeline Payette; one son, Dennis Payette; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, John and Sylvia Hoyer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th Street, Two Rivers. Rev. Dave Pleier will preside at the service, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Wednesday morning, May 28th from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. There will be no Tuesday evening visitation.
