James "Jim" G. Preston

James "Jim" G. Preston, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Brookfield, Wisconsin, at the age of 96. Born on November 16, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois.

A loving husband, Jim was reunited with his beloved wife, Lois (nee Grundl) Preston. As a father, he guided his children, Barbara (James) Hutchins, Michael, Richard, and Thomas Preston, with a gentle hand and a generous heart. His role as a proud grandfather to David (Lisa), Steven, Kristina Clouser, Robert Preston, and Katylynn Forlizzo, as well as a doting great-grandfather to many great-grandchildren, was one he cherished deeply. Jim was the dear brother of Constance "Connie" Preston and will be fondly remembered by many other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George (Papademetriou) and Stella (nee Costell) Preston, and his grandson, Kelly Preston.

Jim's professional life was as a Journeyman Electrician, a career that not only showcased his skill and work ethic but also his dedication to the wellbeing of others. He spent an admirable 20 years with the Milwaukee County Park Commission, ensuring that the parks remained beautiful and safe for all to enjoy. Further extending his commitment to his trade, Jim was an active member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 494, where his contributions were valued and his camaraderie cherished.

Jim's interests were as varied as they were passionate. An outdoorsman at heart, he cherished the times spent camping, hunting, and fishing. Many weekends and vacations were joyfully spent exploring the natural beauty of Wisconsin and the broader United States with his family. Retirement did not slow Jim down; instead, it opened new horizons. He and Lois became winter regulars in McAllen, Texas, where they built a community of friends and shared adventures.

Ever the lifelong learner, Jim took flying lessons and became a skilled small plane pilot. His intellectual curiosity led him to learn conversational Spanish and Greek, languages that served him well when he traveled to Greece to connect with his family roots.

Private services will be held.

Inurnment at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Milwaukee.
