Richard Maas (Uncle Dick) was one of my all-time favorite people. So many great memories-His family visiting us when we lived in Illinois, we hadn't seen him for a long time. I remember when the family moved back to Wisconsin-we were so happy to see them more often. There were many great family celebrations. I remember his well-deserved retirement party at Grace. He had so many great stories of the Maas family history and his wonderful marriage to Carol, his hunting with Grandpa. We will miss all that history now. He loved books and always had an interesting book on his lamp stand. Mostly, I will miss his sense of humor, his love of God, and his kindness to everyone.

Mr. Maas always impressed me as being a devout Lutheran and a true gentleman. I had the utmost respect for him. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe he was my eighth grade teacher in 1965. He was one of several teachers there that not only gave me an education, but also exhibited life lessons that guided me toward living a life within Christian parameters. Sir, I thank you for that. My condolences to all the family members.
