Sarah R. Maas

Sarah R. Maas, 67, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, passed away on September 3, 2025.
Born on February 24, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John L. Withers and Catherine Lucas Withers. Sarah was a devoted dog trainer by trade whose love for animals extended to cats, horses, and all creatures great and small. She was an active member of both Mount Olivet United Methodist Church and Union Chapel United Methodist Church. Her passion for training animals led her to participate in numerous shows and competitions over the years. Beyond her love of animals, Sarah enjoyed horseback riding, arts and crafts, and knitting, finding joy and creativity in all she did.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Maas, who passed away on April 11, 2020.
Sarah is survived by her sister, Catherine "Kate" Withers, of Marysville, Pennsylvania, as well as several cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, located just outside Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mike Leedom will officiate.
