Lea Doucette Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harder Funeral Home - Brookfield on Oct. 9, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Lea Therese Doucette (nee Berg), aged 91, was lifted to Eternal Life on October 4, 2025. She is survived by her two children, Vic (Mary) Doucette and Terri Lynn Doucette. She was the proud grandma of Christa (Jason) Miller and Michael (Kiersten) Doucette. She was also delighted to be the great-grandma to: Kailey, Eleanor, and Avriana. Lea was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ed Doucette; her brother, Jack (Carole) Berg and most recently her sister, Elaine (Al) Mozina.
Lea had a strong Christian faith and practiced it daily. Lea also enjoyed volunteering, particularly at Christ King Parish, San Camillo Retirement Center, Alverno College, and The Christ Child Society. She was happy to help out with any task and frequently engaged in leadership roles.
One of the most important things in Lea's life was her family. Lea loved them deeply and spent as much time as possible with each member. She was interested in the big and little things in their lives, often amazing them at the obscure details she remembered, even years later. If an opportunity arose for her to be with her family, Lea would do whatever she could to ensure she was there to support, encourage, and participate in the activity. Distance or travel time was never an excuse to miss an event. One of her most cherished activities was the annual trip to the Wisconsin Dells with her great-granddaughters.
Lea had a knack for making friends and was blessed to have continuous friendships with those she met as a young child, in grade school, high school, college, and throughout her career. She offered friendship freely and made each person feel important.
For many years, Lea worked with children who had special needs. Those children and their families were fortunate to have been the recipients of her talents and dedication. Lea always spoke highly of her colleagues and was immensely grateful for their willingness to work together and approach teaching as an honor.
Lea loved to travel, especially out west. It seemed she could never see enough snow-covered mountains or glacier-blue lakes. After retiring, Lea chose to share her love of travel by opening her own travel agency, Excitement Plus Travel. Planning vacations for others brought her great joy.
Lea lived her life with abundant faith and shared her love and warmth with everyone she met. She will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be Friday, October 17 from 1-3pm at the St. Camillus Retirement Community, 10200 W. Bluemound Road in Wauwatosa. A funeral Mass in the San Camillo chapel will follow at 3pm, with a reception immediately afterwards. There will be a private interment and committal service Saturday morning.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Christ Child Society of Milwaukee would be greatly appreciated.
