Scotia- James E. Quick, 72 of Scotia passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
Born on November 17, 1952 in Troy, New York, he was the son of the late Spencer and Doris (nee: Synder) Quick.
Jim married his high school sweetheart, Janet (nee: Spears) Quick on September 1, 1973.
Jim worked as a truck/ auto mechanic and transmission specialist for over 20 years.
He attended Schenectady County Community College and earned an AAS degree in Business Programming and Systems. Upon returning to the work force, at Albank in computer operations, then Freihofer Baking as a mainframe operator before retiring.
Jim was a 10-year volunteer member of the Neptune Engine Co. of the Scotia Fire Department, earning the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Over the years Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, hunting, gardening and there was nothing Jim could not fix or build! He was generous with his time and skills, eager to help others.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Patterson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janet Quick; children, Alisa T. Quick of Colebrook, CT, Jaime L. Gilbert (Joshua) of Wallingford, CT and Kristel L. Bowman (Daniel) of Ravena, NY; grandchildren, Arie Bowman, Ellie, Maren and Silas Gilbert; brothers, Richard Quick (Deborah) of Hagaman, NY and Spencer Quick. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews and faithful dog, Maizie.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 4pm to 5:30pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville.
A memorial service will immediately follow at 5:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12302.
