James Riley

James (Jim) Riley joined his beloved wife of more than 30 years, Pat, in eternal rest January 14, 2025. Jim is survived by his children Britt Schubbe (Bob), Erin Maneotis (Matt), Kate Riley, and grandson Tao Riley. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Pat Mezinskis (Juris), brother John Riley (Roxi), brother-in-law Jim Schnoor, sister-in-law Nancy Squire (Rich), and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ollie and Jack Riley, his wife Pat, sister Pam Schnoor, and nephew Mark Mezinskis.
Born in St. Paul, MN, and raised in Davenport, IA, Jim graduated from the University of Iowa before embarking on a distinguished 40-year career at Ralson Purina. Starting in an entry-level position, he rose to become a respected senior executive and developed many meaningful relationships with colleagues across the world. After retirement Jim enjoyed traveling, was an avid golfer, and never lost the thrill of finding a good deal.
Outside of work, Jim embraced many of life's adventures. He enjoyed being outdoors hiking and traversed the Grand Canyon multiple times. Jim always looked forward to hunting and fishing with his brother John in Montana or in Iowa with his wife Pat's family. Jim liked winter sports such as snowmobiling and taught his daughters how to ski. He set an example how to work hard, support family, and make smart financial decisions. As a son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, he was loyal and generous and had a lasting impact on those around him.
Jim will surely be missed by many but will be fondly remembered for his achievements, successes, values, and perseverance. Jim was fun loving, had a wonderful sense of humor, and always had a big smile, laugh, and story to share with family and friends. His presence and personality brought happiness and joy to those that knew him, and his spirit and memory will continue to warm the hearts of all who loved him.
A visitation for Jim will be held on January 27, 2025 at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery in Scottsdale, Arizona from 6PM-9PM.
A Funeral Mass for Jim is scheduled for January 28, 2025 at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic Parish in Anthem, Arizona at 10AM.
