Mr. James Edward "Buzzie" Rogers, age 79, of Rome, Georgia, departed this life to join his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 9, 2026.
James was born on September 29th, 1946, in Floyd County, Georgia, to the late Sidney Lanier Rogers and the late Clora Bell Bennett Rogers. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life of 51 years, his wife, Nadine Rogers; daughter, Lisa Nadine Rogers; sisters, Donna Sue Land and Diane Heath, nephews, Terry Heath and Brian Rogers, and a sister-in-law, Debra Rogers.
Buzzie grew up in Kingston, GA and attended Cass High School. He married Nadine (Dini) Elizabeth Rogers on May 17, 1968, and remained a devoted and loving husband until her death on January 29th, 2021. He attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for many years.
He became a Master Plumber & Pipefitter and worked for Atlantic Steel Company for 18 years and worked for Art Plumbing Company until he retired at the age of 62.
Buzzie was an avid crappie fisherman and was happiest spending days in his boat with his son, brothers, and many friends. He enjoyed golf trips with his coworkers and brothers, taking many trips to play. Buzzie was also a lifelong Georgia Bulldog fan and would always be seen in a Georgia shirt and his favorite Georgia hat.
Buzzie will be most remembered for his complete devotion to his family. He never hesitated to help anyone in need. His favorite saying was "it is so easy to be kind to people, there is always someone who needs more than I do." He will be missed deeply by his family and many friends.
Survivors include his son, Stacy Rogers (Claire); granddaughters, Kayla Schuver (Josh) and Kerri Rogers; sister, Rita Blackstock (Bennie); brothers, Wayne Rogers (Carol), Ricky Rogers (Sheryl), Ronnie Rogers (Lahoma), and Kenneth Rogers (Maxine); several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Buzzie will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 1370 Kingston Hwy, Kingston GA. with Pastor Joe Land officiating.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and will include Steve Cowart, Jeff Rogers, Jeremy Rogers, Justin Rogers, Adam Rogers, and Glen Cleveland.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Floyd Felines by visiting floydfelines.org or to Dr. Daniel G. Todd at Mount Berry Animal Hospital, Rome GA. 30165.
