James "Buddy" Lynn Roy, born September 26, 1933, and passed away January 31, 2026, at the age of 92, at the Ben Atchley Veteran Home.

Buddy was born in Sweetwater, TN to Carl and Laverne (Kile) Roy. He was a 1952 graduate of Sweetwater High School. After high school, he worked on his dad's farm for many years. He was drafted into the Army in 1956 and served his country for two years, followed by servicing in the Army National Guard for 11 years. He was a social member of the VFW Post 5156.

Buddy married Delois Sue Allmon on December 21, 1955. They lived in Fontainebleau, France for two years. After returning from France, Buddy and Sue set up house in the Christianburg Community. Buddy was partners in Hicks and Roy Construction Company. He remained in the construction industry from the early 60's until 1995.

Buddy sold produce for 21 years and served as Monroe Commissioner from 1984 until 1994. He was one of the original founders of the Christianburg Volunteer Fire Department, where he served for several years as a board member. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Even though he did wonderful work throughout his life for the community he was his happiest self when he was selling produce and working on the farm.

Preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Laverne Roy; brothers: Carl Roy Jr., Lon Arrants Roy and Ernie Roy; sister: Mary Ann Roy Kyker; sons-in-law: Tim Bingham and Mike Richeson

Survivors include his wife of 70 years: Delois Sue Allmon Roy; daughters: Tanya Bingham, Melaine Richeson, Dale Belk (Rodney) and Sonya Roy; grandchildren: Rhinnon Colquitt, Kale Belk (Katie), Jesse Belk, Tasya Aikman (Brandon), Jamey Richeson; great grandchildren: Lily, Maggie, Rhett, Hannah, Grace, Kaydence and Hattie; sister: Nancy Roy Saint; special friend: Lexie Reynolds; special caregivers: Ashley Grieger and Nichole Gottschall

The family would also like to give a special thanks to Woods Nursing Home and the Ben Atchley Veteran's Home.

The family will receive friends at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 5p.m. to 7p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 7p.m. with Rev. Freddy Crabtree and Rev. Brian Courtney officiating. Interment on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11a.m. in the Christianburg Cemetery with full military honors provided by members of the Sweetwater V.F.W. Gold Star Post 5156 and the American Legion Post 106.

Pallbearers will include Jesse Belk, Kale Belk, Jamey Richeson, Tommy Saint, David Raby and Denny Roy; Honorary Pallbearer: Rhett Belk
