James (Jim) Gleason Schweizer, aged 86, of Perdido Key, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nadine (Cole), his children Lynn Dieker (Jerry), Gary Schweizer (Joseph), and Valerie Will (Jamie), and by his brother Dr. Robert Schweizer (Chris). He is also survived by grandchildren Nathan, Craig, Robert, Brie, Karis, and Kyle, and by 11 great-grandchildren. Jim was also a loving cousin, brother-in-law, and uncle to a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Genevieve Schweizer and siblings John and Janet.
Jim had a long and rewarding career in the aviation industry which brought him and his family to many parts of the world. He and Nadine shared over twenty wonderful years together in the place they loved most, along the white sandy shores and clear blue waters of Perdido Key. He especially enjoyed golfing, cooking, listening to jazz music, and traveling the country with Nadine in their RV, creating countless memories along the way.
Jim and Nadine were active members of Perdido Bay Methodist Church, where Jim sang in the choir, volunteered at the church redemption store, and gave generously of his time to a variety of charitable ministries. Through these and many other activities, he built lasting friendships and found a deep sense of community.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. We find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
A memorial service will be held at Perdido Bay Methodist Church, 13660 Innerarity Point Rd, Pensacola, Florida on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the outreach ministries of Perdido Bay Methodist Church.
