James Robert Shaffer, 74, of Van Buren, passed away peacefully at his home. He was born on November 7, 1950, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Alfred Shaffer and Martha Marie Smith.
James proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. Following his military service, he attended Westark Community College and later worked for Burford Distributing. He enjoyed bowling and was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, rarely missing a game.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maudie Shaffer, and his son, Kevin Shaffer. He is survived by his son, Aaron Shaffer.
His life was marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and simple joys that brought him happiness. He will be deeply missed. Cremation is under the thoughtful care of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.
