James P. "Jim" Spoonamore

James "Jim" P. Spoonamore, 89, of Versailles, KY, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026 at the St. Joseph Hospital after a short illness. Born August 21, 1936 in Stanford, KY to the late George Overstreet Spoonamore Jr. and Susan Fisher Woods Spoonamore. He was also preceded in death by his brother, George Overstreet "George O" Spoonamore III, his nephew George Overstreet "Sonny" Spoonamore IV and his beloved daughter, Lynn Spoonamore Uram.
A man with unprecedented work ethic, he retired as a manager for IBM after 30 years, but continued to work full-time until his recent illness. He was most recently employed as an independent contractor courier for Central Bank locations in Lexington, KY. In addition to his day job, he spent many years as a referee for women's collegiate basketball games. He is also known for his love of golf, horse racing and most especially his passion of "coaching" all manner of UK Wildcats sports teams from the comfort of his couch.
He is survived by his wife Gloria Jean Dickey Spoonamore of Versailles, KY; a daughter, Julie Spoonamore of Lexington; niece Susan Spoonamore of Frankfort, KY; niece Gayle Spoonamore of Nashville, TN; son-in-law Tom Uram of Eighty-Four, PA and the mother of his children Lynda Parrott Spoonamore of Lexington, KY.
Services will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Road. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be George Overstreet "Street" Spoonamore V, Casey McCoy, Greg Lavy, Ty Huffines, Brian Scott Kirkland and Joseph Peggs.
Burial will be in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Woodford County Humane Society or Lexington Rescue Mission. Kerr Brothers Livestreams will have the video of the service.
