James O. Stout, 85, Macy, Indiana, passed away at 2:25 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru.
Born May 25, 1940, in Muncie, Indiana, he was the son of Archie McKinley Stout and Rachel Mae Downen Stout. On December 30, 1962, in Denver, Indiana, he was married to Bonnie Marie Stout, and she preceded him in death on May 15, 2024.
James graduated from Peru High School in 1960 and worked for GenCorp in Peru, Indiana, before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, coaching Little League, and going out for breakfast with his wife Bonnie. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Green Bay Packers football and IU Basketball.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonita (David) McPherson, Macy; Jim (Lisa) Stout, Lebanon; Lonnie (Cheryl) Stout, Peru; nine grandchildren, Natasha McPherson (Dylan Steele), Caleb McPherson, Joshua McPherson, Lauren (Jamie) Dugle, Lindsey (Cameron) Eames-Butcher, Mallory (Jack) Wynkoop, Faith Stout, Isaac (Kassie) Stout, and Faylena Stout; three great-grandchildren, Winslow, Jamison, and Mylo; sisters-in-law, Kay (Ernie) Spence, Lafayette; Maxine (Ronnie) Manning, Macy; Sylvia Burdine, Peru; and Sue Mays, Lafayette; and two brothers-in-law, Bruce (Ruth) Corell; Denver; and Rex (Valery) Correll, Rochester. He is also survived by two caregivers who helped him stay at home this past year, Ann Perry and Destine Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur Stout, Archie Junior Stout, Charles Stout, Donald Stout, John Howard Stout; and sisters, Beulah Clevenger and Etta Mae Bottenfield
Funeral services will be held at Noon Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Brad Hisey officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver, officiated by his nephew Pastor David Stout.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Macy Christian Church.
