James R. Swarr

James R. Swarr, 73, of Franklin, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Janet E. (Ellis) Swarr for over 51 years.
Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania on May 4, 1952, he was the son of the late Samuel V. and Stella E. (Cramer) Swarr, Jr.
James grew up in Pottstown, Pennsylvania and graduated from Walpole High School in Walpole, Massachusetts. He earned his associate's degree for Wentworth Institute of Technology.
James worked as a software engineer at Phoenix Controls in Acton for 25 years and continued working as a private consultant after retirement.
Sci-Fi was his passion, although James loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Hillary Cole and her husband Jeremy of Hudson, New York, two sons, Nicholas Swarr and his wife Vanny of Attleboro and Andrew Swarr and his wife Alexandra of Milford, and his beloved grandchildren, Mishka, Arlen, Vincent, Vera, and Finn.
He is also survived by three brothers Robert Swarr of Connecticut, John Swarr of California and Thomas Swarr of Connecticut, his sister Barbara Taylor of Plainville, Connecticut, and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral services are private at the request of his family and are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street in Franklin (ginleyfunealhomes.com).
