Teresa Marie Mattson, age 100, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts, on March 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Fiorina (Pagnini) Presentato. A proud lifelong resident of Walpole, Teresa graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1943 and quickly found a job as a secretary at the Walpole Town Hall.
She married her beloved husband, Henry E. Mattson, and they made their home in Walpole. The two loved to dance together, especially square dancing, and they always enjoyed nights out with friends known as the Do-Si-Doers. After welcoming her sons, Teresa dedicated herself to being a nurturing homemaker, raising her children with love and care. She and Henry also bought a vacation home in Dennisport, and their family loved spending time there, exploring everything the Cape had to offer.
Sadly, Henry passed away in 1976, and Teresa needed to return to work. She went back to school, taking courses at Massasoit Community College. She earned her LPN and later became a Registered Nurse. Teresa worked at Kendall Mills, then at the Walpole Prison, and finished her nursing career in Westborough—always caring for her patients with compassion.
Above all, Teresa’s family meant everything to her. She lived just a few doors down from her siblings, and they loved gathering together to celebrate holidays and special occasions. She was known for her incredible baking skills, especially her pineapple upside-down cake and anisette cookies, which she happily shared at every family gathering.
Beloved wife of the late Henry E. Mattson.
Loving mother of the late Peter Dale Mattson and the late Jeffrey Alan Mattson.
Sister of Vera DeRosa of Dennis, the late Madeline Ellis, the late Emily Howe, and the late Mario Presentato.
Cherished aunt of Lisa Shook of Brewster, Maria DeRosa of West Dennis, James Arena-DeRosa of Holliston, Wendy Spampinato of Brewster, Marybeth Howe of Boston, Robert Howe of Walpole, Mark Presentato of Assonet, Jay Presentato of Mansfield, Peter Presentato of Mansfield, and the late Robin Ellis.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street Walpole, on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, at 11:00 am prior to Teresa's Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole, at 12:00 pm.
