James P. Swoger

EAST LIVERPOOL – James P. "Jim" Swoger, 73, of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Heritage Valley Beaver Post Acute Medical.
Jim was born on July 11, 1951, in East Liverpool, a son of the late Carl and Mae (Nicholson) Swoger. He worked as a brick mason for East Liverpool Local 10, at Penn Power and the Ferro Corporation. Jim really had a passion for East Liverpool and its residents. He retired after 12 years of service as Mayor of East Liverpool serving three terms. He also cared for the Thompson Park Pool for 18 years with his wife. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Preceding Jim in death were two sisters Karen Wiseman and Louann Schilling.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, whom he married February 20, 1971, Amy J. (DeLong) Swoger; three sons Dr. Jim Swoger and his wife Bridget, Andy Swoger and his wife Reneé and Dr. Dan Swoger and his wife Dr. Erin; eleven grandchildren Audrey, Lily, Felicity, Charlotte, Daphne, Blaise, Eli, Layla, Olivia, Lucy and Silas Swoger; brother Rick Swoger and his wife Ann-Lynn and Maurice Brown and his wife Andrea.
Friends may visit Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. P. Douglas George will conduct a funeral service on Saturday 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
