James Taylor Obituary

He was born on March 3, 1944 in Lafayette, IN to the late James and Frances (Wolf) Taylor. Jim graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962.
On June 21, 1963, he married Dawn Rupp at the Lafayette Gospel Center.
Jim worked as a high voltage electrician and utility locator for Purdue University for 20 years. He had previously owned the Sugar Plum Shop with his wife.
He was a member of River City Church where he taught Sunday School for 20 years. Jim loved God and his family.
Surviving are his wife, Dawn Taylor of Lafayette; his children, Memory (Christopher) Miller of Beech Grove, IN, Tim Taylor of Cape Coral, FL, and Derek Taylor of Lafayette; and his sister-in-law, Donna Taylor of Lafayette. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jordan (Lindsey) Taylor, Sarah Larrison, Acacia (Shawn) Carney, Josh (Allysia) Miller, Hunter (Brooke) Taylor, Levi Miller, Cooper Taylor, and Cameron Taylor and his great grandchildren, Zoe, Kiley, Claire, Celie, Colt, Wyatt, Henry, Avery, Hudson, Harrison, Hampton, Evan, Bennett, Liberty, Keegan, and Max.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Peggy Taylor and Bobbie Werderitsh; his brother, Gary Taylor; and his daughter-in-law, Chris Taylor.
A Service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 11 a.m. at River City Church with Pastor Adam Howard and Hunter Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at River City Church. Private Burial will be in Meadow View Cemetery.

Dawn and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of Jim's homecoming. I remember his smile and joy of joking around. We were all younger and enjoyed times together when we lived in Lafayette. May the Lord bless you with His peace and comfort as He has with me since Cheryl passed away January 1,2024.
