James H. Topper

James Huber Topper, 93, of Littlestown, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at his son's home.

Born on March 3, 1932, in Pennville, PA. He was the son of the late Curtis C. and Mary M. (Stambaugh) Topper. He retired after twenty-one years of service from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant and continued working in construction until he fully retired in 1994. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a life member of the local chapters of the Catholic War Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the McSherrystown Home Association.

James is survived by his children, Hannelore (Kenneth) Furst, Steven (Lisa) Topper, Rebecca (Robert) Rickrode, and Timothy (Deanna) Topper; as well as his nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Sieglinde, he was also predeceased by two sisters Margaret Reaver and Rose Herman; and three brothers Robert, Earl, and Marlin Topper.

A memorial service in celebration of James' life will be held on Friday September 5th 2025, at 11:00AM, at Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc, 501 Ridge Ave, McSherrystown PA 17344, with Rev. Don Asbaugh officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest next to his wife at Marburg Memorial Gardens. Viewings will be held on Thursday from 5:00-7:00PM and on Friday from 10:00-11:00AM, both at the funeral home.
