James Douglas "Doug" Troutman, 64, of Lapel, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Doug was born on July 22, 1960, in Madison County, Indiana, to James and Joan (Anderson) Troutman.

Doug was a proud graduate of Lapel High School, Class of '78, and he carried that Bulldog spirit with him throughout his life. He was a big supporter of Lapel High athletics, especially basketball, always in the stands cheering for the home team. After high school, Doug pursued a degree in accounting at Anderson College and became a trusted certified public accountant, known for his knack with numbers and, more importantly, for the friendships he built with clients and colleagues alike.

When he wasn't crunching numbers, you'd find Doug out on the golf course, where he spent countless happy hours with friends and children. He was proud of his six hole-in-ones, earning his first at Brockway Golf Course in Lapel. Doug wasn't just a golfer; he was a vibrant member of the community, actively involved in the Lapel Optimist Club, Lapel Lions Club and Edgewood Golf and Country Club. He loved traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach, where he could combine his love for golf and the beach. Doug was an avid Clemson University fan and an all-around sports enthusiast.

Above all, Doug loved his family. He was a dedicated dad and a wonderful father, supporting his kids in everything they did.

Doug is survived by his children, Bailey Troutman, Brooke Troutman, Brynna Troutman, and Brock Troutman, and their mother, Melissa Poore; two sisters, Debbie Sharpe and Terri Sexton; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, including a special cousin, Amy Gwinn. He is also survived by many special friends that meant so much to him, especially, Jon Howell.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Bozell Funeral Homes, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Rev. Scott Taylor officiating. Burial will follow services at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
